Pure Message Spam Filter

How to use the Pure Message spam filter service.

The Pure Message filtering service is the first line of defense for combating the annoyance of spam and more importantly, the risk of distributing a phishing attempt or a malware infected message before it is delivered. Prevent messages from being filtered by approving a sender or domain or stop message from being delivered to your mailbox by blocking a sender or domain. These practices are commonly referred to as whitelisting or blacklisting addresses.

Follow these instructions to ensure email from important senders is delivered to your mailbox or to a mailing list.

To approve a sender's email address or domain:

  1. Navigate a web browser to www.wpi.edu/+spamfilter
  2. Sign in with your WPI account and password (if managing an email list, enter list@wpi.edu and the list owner's WPI password)
  3. Select "Approved Senders"
  4. Add the sender's address to the "Add address:" field and select "Add Sender"

NOTE:

To approve all email from an approved domain, enter **@domain.com.

To block a sender's email address or domain:

  1. Navigate a web browser to www.wpi.edu/+spamfilter
  2. Sign in with your WPI credentials
  3. Select "Blocked Senders"
  4. Add the sender's address to the "Add address:" field and select "Add Sender"

NOTE:

To block all email from a domain, enter **@domain.com.
