Data Backup

WPI Email

Exchange online items can be saved by using Outlook to create a personal folder or Outlook Data File (with the file extension .pst). After creating the personal folder and moving items into it, you can burn that .pst file to a blank DVD or copy it to a USB key.

Data

Back up any important files from your personal network share. This service is only available to active WPI account holders, and data will not be restored once the account is deactivated.

The files in your Storage drive at \\storage.wpi.edu\HOME\My_Documents can be accessed by mapping a network drive. Once the drive is mapped, the files can be moved to your local hard drive or portable media, or burned to a DVD.

WPI Computers

Back up any data saved on campus computers. Login to these computers will discontinue when your WPI account is discontinued.


Software

Microsoft Campus Licensing Agreement

Please order and acquire software before departing; software will not be available for installation after graduation or employment termination. Licenses for Microsoft Office installed via Office365 will discontinue 30 days after your WPI account terminates.

Network Software

Courseware and other networked software installed on personal computers will not function once the personal computer is removed from the WPI network due to the dependency on WPI license servers. It is recommended that courseware be safely uninstalled prior to disconnecting the device from the WPI network.

WPI Computers

Applications on campus computers including labs, public spaces, and classrooms will no longer be accessible once your WPI login credentials are discontinued.


Access Changes

Network

Guest network access is available to alumni and sponsored campus visitors.

Transfer Ownership

Owners of group accounts and mailing lists should transfer ownership to another active group member or faculty/staff advisor prior to departing WPI. Instructions for managing group accounts and mailing lists are provided under the Utilities section.

Bannerweb

Bannerweb will now be accessed using your WPI ID number and PIN.
