Requirements

  • Active WPI account
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop app is required
    • If not already installed, download and install the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from the Mac App Store.
  • Usage is governed by the WPI Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Use of WPI Network or VPN if off-campus

Instructions

To connect to the WPI terminal server using remote desktop:

  1. Open the Microsoft Remote Desktop app and click on New
  2. Enter the following information:
    • Connection Name: Terminal Server
    • PC Name: elabs.wpi.edu
      • You can also connect to other academic and teaching servers:
        • arcts-lab1.wpi.edu
        • arcts-lab2.wpi.edu
    • Username: yourusername@wpi.edu
  3. Close the window and the settings will save
  4. Under My Desktops double-click the connection to connect to the terminal server

File Storage

WPI recommends you do NOT save any work to the local terminal server machine. Any files saved to the terminal server may be lost once your session has disconnected.

WPI IT recommends you save your work to your WPI OneDrive to ensure no work is lost.
